CSCS Gold Card Changes for Data and Fibre Engineers

There has been a significant change for structured network engineers who require a gold card. CSCS have handed over the responsibility of CSCS scheme cards for structured network engineers to ECS. The great news is that ECS recognises the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Professional Competence for IT and Telecoms Professionals for the ECS Advanced Datacoms Specialist Gold Card.

CSCS Communications Installer (Infrastructure)

CSCS will continue to issue the gold card for engineers up to 31st Jan 2017. If you have the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Professional Competence for IT and Telecoms Professionals and have completed the CSCS Health & Safety test then you should apply for your gold card before the cut off date.

ECS Advanced Datacomms Specialist Gold Card

ECS are accepting applications for this card now. In order to be eligible data engineers need to have the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Professional Competence for IT and Telecoms Professionals and also need to complete the ECS Health and Safety Assessment.

Who should apply for the Datacomms Specialist Gold Card?

Skilled workers, capable of carrying out, in an autonomous and competent manner:

  • the installation and testing of structured cabling, including all necessary containment as well as any associated connection units; Installation and testing of earthing and bonding cables.

The ECS Datacomms Specialist gold card is for operatives that are qualified to level 3 in a recognised datacomms qualification (BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Professional Competence for IT and Telecoms Professionals) and are installing, commissioning and maintaining structured cabling systems for datacomms systems.
