Final Call for Funded Data / Fibre Engineer Courses

After 31st July 2013 the Government will no longer be funding Level 3 programmes for those aged 24+ This is the final call for structured cabling / fibre engineers to sign up to a free course. From 1st August 2013 engineers will need to access a 24+ Learning Loan or pay commercial rates.

The courses is an accredited qualification, which enables engineers to apply for a Gold CSCS Card and is delivered through:

  • Observations in the workplace by one of our assessors
  • One to one personal support
  • Online training modules
  • Development of an online portfolio of evidence

Programme Delivery

Candidates need to complete the portfolio element and the online
video modules. The average length of programme is 12 months.

Portfolio Element – Level 3 Diploma in ICT PROCOM

This element of the programme involves engineers and the assessor building a portfolio of evidence together
and the engineers being observed in the workplace by an assessor – in a non-intrusive way.

The units are:

  • Develop Own Effectiveness & Professionalism
  • Health & Safety
  • Fibre Optics
  • Telecommunications Principles
  • Networking Principles
  • Defining Customer Needs
  • Fault Diagnosis

Knowledge Element – Level 3 Certificate in ICT Systems & Principles

There are 3 knowledge units consisting of online video modules:

  • Networking Principles
  • Principles of System Security
  • Telecommunications Principles
