Network Cable Installer Certificate ECS Card

Data & Fibre

If you are a network cable installer and you need a certificate to apply for an ECS Advanced Datacomms Specialist card then you can gain this through our BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Professional Competence for IT and Telecoms Professionals.

This programme has been designed for any network cable installer who can gather evidence from the workplace for their online portfolio. This course has been very popular with self-employed engineers who are unable to benefit from the Network Cable Installer Apprenticeship. To be eligible to access apprenticeships engineers must be employed.

Network Cable Installer Certification

Instead of an apprenticeship, engineers are able to complete the BTEC Level 3 Diploma and with the ECS H&S assessment or equivalent, are able to apply for the ECS Advanced Datacomms Specialist Card. This qualification is OfQUAL approved and is certificated by the Pearson awarding body. This gives engineers peace of mind that it will be recognised not just in the UK but also internationally – it is Level 4 on the European Qualification Framework.

Many engineers will have years of experience and in that time have developed high levels of skills and knowledge without being certificated for it. The online programme that we offer provides the opportunity for engineers to gather evidence of those skills and knowledge and demonstrate it through the portfolio that they will build.

How to get started

If you are interested in this programme then getting started is really simple. On our pricing page, you will find payments options for each of our pathways – we offer two – the copper only pathway and the fibre and copper pathway.

Select the payment option that suits you best. Shortly after subscribing, you will receive an email which will provide you access to the online platform. There is guidance online that shows you what you will be required to do. Each module sets out the evidence requirements.

Engineers need to simply work through each of the requirements and once it has been completed and verified a BTEC certificate will be ordered.
